Program checklist

Four questions should come before enrollment.

01

Who provides care?

Confirm a licensed clinician evaluates you and provides follow-up.

02

Who fills prescriptions?

Use a licensed pharmacy and verify the exact medication and manufacturer.

03

What is included?

Separate membership, visits, labs, medication, supplies, and shipping costs.

04

What does insurance cover?

Check the formulary, diagnosis criteria, authorization, and pharmacy network.

Understanding GLP-1 access

GLP-1 medications are prescription drugs used for specific approved indications. A licensed clinician should determine appropriateness based on medical history, current medications, risks, benefits, and follow-up. Coverage depends on the exact drug, diagnosis, formulary, and authorization rules.

Insurance, cash-pay, and membership costs

Ask for a written breakdown. A monthly price may not include visits, labs, medication, supplies, shipping, dose changes, or support. Insurance approval does not guarantee a low copay, and a discount program is not health insurance.

FDA-approved and compounded drugs are different

FDA-approved medications are reviewed for safety, effectiveness, and quality for approved uses. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved and do not undergo the same premarket review. Obtain prescriptions from a licensed clinician and use a state-licensed pharmacy. Be cautious of products sold without a prescription, unclear ingredients, unsupported dosing claims, or sellers that hide the pharmacy.

Questions to ask

Will a licensed clinician review my history?

Ask who makes decisions, where the clinician is licensed, and how follow-up or side effects are handled.

What exact medication would I receive?

Confirm the ingredient, manufacturer or pharmacy, dose, delivery form, storage, and labeling.

Is medication included in the advertised price?

Request all recurring and one-time costs, including visits, labs, supplies, shipping, and cancellation terms.

What if insurance denies coverage?

Ask the provider and insurer about the reason, needed evidence, appeal process, alternatives, and cash cost.
